Captain's Cup

The Club's season-opening tournament reunites the polo family after the off-season break and rekindles the camaraderie that defines the Club. The event also serves as a warm welcome to new members joining for the season, marked by a Club-organised asado that fosters connection. The Captain's Cup sets a relaxed and familial tone for the months of polo ahead.

French Ambassador's Cup
16 SEPT 2025—21 SEPT 2025
The French Ambassador's Cup has long held a cherished place in the Club's annual calendar, historically serving not only as a premier sporting fixture but also as a valued platform for showcasing French corporate, commercial, and cultural interests in Ghana. Over the years, the tournament has contributed meaningfully to the deepening of bilateral relations between Ghana and France, reflecting the longstanding friendship shared by our two nations.

Pink Polo Trophy
10 OCT 2025—12 OCT 2025
An international tournament held in support of breast cancer awareness in Ghana, this flagship event combines sport with purpose—serving both as a platform to raise awareness and as a fundraiser for organisations supporting breast cancer awareness, screening, and treatment.

Trustees' Cup
21 OCT 2025—26 OCT 2025
A competitive, fast-paced tournament played in honour of current and past trustees of the Club, who serve with distinction as custodians of its legacy. This two-goal tournament allows Club players to sharpen their game for the higher-handicap international and open tournaments ahead.

Accra vs. Lagos Cup
13 NOV 2025—16 NOV 2025
The Club's annual invitational tournament brings together members of the Accra and Lagos Polo Clubs for a spirited weekend of sport and fellowship. A highlight of the season, this tournament enjoys strong support from non-playing members of the Lagos Polo Club, who travel to Accra to cheer on their team. This trophy strengthens the bond between the two Clubs and remains one of the most well-attended and festive tournaments of the season.

Family Cup
25 NOV 2025—30 NOV 2025
Newly introduced for the 2025/2026 season, this tournament is designed to provide a superb opportunity for the youngest and newest playing members of the Club to enjoy competitive games alongside their more experienced family members and friends. The Club's Polo Academy and Riding School will also hold its annual gymkhana over the weekend, showcasing the foundational riding skills needed to make the transition into polo.

Accra Open
16 DEC 2025—21 DEC 2025
The Club's annual flagship tournament welcomes professional and amateur players from around the world and attracts top talent from across the polo fraternity. With large festive-season crowds, the tournament is a centrepiece of seasonal celebration and high-level competition. It is the most anticipated tournament of the season, offering thrilling matches and a vibrant atmosphere that closes the year in grand style.

President's Cup
31 DEC 2025—1 JAN 2026
An annual traditional fixture designed to usher in the New Year. On New Year's Day, games begin at the crack of dawn and are followed by a celebratory brunch hosted by the Club President. The tradition encourages members to ring in the New Year at the Club and indulge in their favourite pastime, whilst entertaining guests. The President's Cup sets the tone for the year ahead and offers a unique blend of camaraderie, competition, and celebration.

Constitution Shield
3 JAN 2026—7 JAN 2026
This annual tournament is played in recognition of Ghana's Fourth Republican constitutional dispensation, which began on 7 January 1993. Offering tough, competitive polo, the tournament highlights the Club's continuing legacy as one of the oldest surviving institutions in the country, founded over 120 years ago.

Nana Awuah-Darko Trophy
27 JAN 2026—1 FEB 2026
This tournament is played in memory of the first Ghanaian Captain of the Accra Polo Club, who also went on to serve as a Trustee of the Club. It honours his lasting legacy and the leadership that helped shape the Club into what it is today. As the second of two open tournaments on the calendar, it welcomes players from around the world. The Nana Awuah-Darko Trophy is a celebration of heritage, leadership, and the spirit of Ghanaian polo.

Kenneth Quartey Trophy
10 FEB 2026—15 FEB 2026
This trophy honours the legacy of a beloved member of the Accra Polo Club. Born on 13 February 1961, Kenneth's lifelong passion for horses led him to serve as Captain of both the Accra Polo Club and the Ghana Polo Team on several occasions. He proudly represented Ghana in England, Ireland, South Africa, and Nigeria, where he is fondly remembered within the polo fraternity. Donated by his family after his passing, the trophy stands as a tribute to his enduring contributions to the Club and the sport.

Members' Shield

An ultra low-goal tournament sponsored by the Club's members, aimed at encouraging broad participation from all playing members.

Freedom Cup
3 MAR 2026—8 MAR 2026
A domestic cup played over the same weekend as the Ghana Independence Cup, this tournament encourages the participation of younger and up-and-coming players, making it a weekend that showcases the full spectrum of polo talent.

Ghana Independence Cup
3 MAR 2026—8 MAR 2026
Traditionally played each year over Ghana's Independence Day weekend, this international tournament marks the significant occasion through competitive sport, international engagement, and a lively social atmosphere. It is one of the Club's marquee events, featuring an invited international team competing in high-intensity matches that draw large crowds. The celebration continues off the field with one of the most anticipated social events of the season.

St. Patrick's Cup
24 MAR 2026—29 MAR 2026
This cup was presented to the Accra Polo Club by the Irish Consulate over two decades ago, in commemoration of St Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Sponsored by PW Mining and the Irish Consulate in Ghana, this festive tournament brings a vibrant international flair to the Club.

William Essilfie Trophy
21 APR 2026—26 APR 2026
Played in honour of one of the most beloved and fondly remembered members of the Accra Polo Club community. William lived just across the road from the Club and was a daily presence, whose warmth, humour, and ability to connect with everyone made him a cherished figure. Known for his jovial spirit and infectious energy, William brought joy to all who knew him. As the final tournament on the calendar, the William Essilfie Memorial Trophy serves as a fundraising event for educational charities and is a special occasion to celebrate a successful season filled with fond memories, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of the Club.
